On July 26th, a captivating experience unfolded at My Pole Garden in Monroe, where creativity, beauty, and connection came together in a magical photoshoot titled "Reflections in Frame." Nestled on five secluded acres, this enchanting venue is adorned with birch trees, moss-covered trunks, vibrant trails, and blooms of daisies and lavender. At its heart lies a grassy area with a tree grove, creating a serene and picturesque backdrop for our artistic endeavor. The calming rustle of leaves and the gentle hum of nature provided the perfect soundtrack as we set the stage for our photoshoot.
With three talented photographers—me, Mama Kat Photography, and Rochelle Marie Photography—every detail of the day was expertly captured. I brought my affinity for natural light and a clean, colorful style that highlighted the beauty of both the models and the surroundings. Kat Photography dazzled us with amazing lighting, including a fog machine that added an ethereal touch to the images, creating a dreamlike atmosphere. Rochelle Marie focused on capturing behind-the-scenes moments, ensuring that the spirit of the day was preserved in every frame. A delightful mishap occurred when Kat’s flash umbrella unexpectedly flew off and struck me, sending waves of laughter through the group. This kind of camaraderie and delight underscored the essence of our gathering, illustrating that creativity thrives not just through art, but through shared moments of joy. With the playful use of gels to color the light, Kat created epic images that beautifully highlighted the models against the misty backdrop. We are all eagerly anticipating Rochelle Marie’s behind-the-scenes videos, which promise to capture the laughter and creativity that flowed throughout the day.
The models, five radiant souls adorned in boho, flowy dresses, arrived with an infectious energy. Their excitement was palpable as they bonded, sharing stories and laughter. Each model brought her unique personality to the shoot, contributing to an atmosphere of warmth and camaraderie. This shoot was particularly special for one model, who had recently received a cancer diagnosis. The camaraderie of the group aimed to uplift her spirit, making her first modeling experience truly magical. Clad in ethereal makeup and adorned with body jewelry from Indulgence Intimate Portraiture, the models felt like faeries or witches, embodying the enchanting atmosphere of the day. They expressed how the outfits made them feel empowered and beautiful, allowing them to step into a world of fantasy and creativity.
Props played a vital role in the shoot, with the intricately hand-decorated mirror and ornate frame adding layers of creativity. These mirrors served not only as reflective surfaces but also as portals into different dimensions of imagination. The models explored their reflections and playfully posed with the frame, sticking themselves through it in whimsical ways that captured their joy and spirit. Each click of the camera immortalized the laughter and the beauty of the moment, as the models embraced their roles with grace and enthusiasm. Watching them interact with the props was a reminder of the boundless creativity that art can inspire.
As the host of this event, I had the pleasure of orchestrating this beautiful day. After having the frame and mirror made, I gathered my crochet inventory from my business, Crocheted Chimerism, and borrowed the stunning body jewelry collection. To keep everyone energized, I brought along refreshments—water, fruits, and veggies—and set the mood with my Bluetooth speakers, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with music and creativity. The sound of laughter and the rhythm of our favorite tunes filled the air, encouraging everyone to let loose and enjoy the experience fully.
This experience held significant meaning for me. Given my health challenges, including disabilities in my skeleton and a new heart condition, I am acutely aware that this may be my last group shoot for some time. The opportunity to create freely alongside other talented individuals was a precious gift, reminding me of the joy that art can bring, even in the face of adversity. As I moved around the set, capturing moments and assisting the photographers, I felt a sense of belonging and purpose that transcended my physical limitations.
As the day came to a close, an overwhelming sense of happiness enveloped the group. We all cherished the beautiful moments we had created together, leaving My Pole Garden with hearts full of joy and memories that would last a lifetime. Our reflections in the mirrors were not just of our physical selves but also a testament to the connections we formed and the stories we shared. "Reflections in Frame" was more than just a photoshoot; it was a celebration of life, creativity, and the connections formed through art.
In the days that have followed, the excitement of the shoot has lingered. The models shared their favorite moments and discussed how empowering it felt to embrace their creativity. The photographers began editing their images, each photo promising to tell a unique story. As we await the final results, we find ourselves reminiscing about our magical day and the extraordinary bonds we forged.
Looking back, it’s clear that "Reflections in Frame" was a gathering of hearts and souls, united by the power of art. It was a reminder that even in challenging times, creativity has the power to uplift, connect, and inspire. This experience will remain etched in our memories, a shining example of how beauty can emerge from vulnerability and how community can be a source of strength.
